Well, I'm not sure what else I can write about this week other than the fact that my family and I are expecting the birth of our son this Friday. I'm not sure what that day is going to be like, but I can tell you that I am the most excited for three things, and in no particular order. They are as follows: 1. To see my wife hold her son. 2. To see my daughter hold her brother and make the announcement to the rest of the family when he is officially born. 3. To see my parents and my brother hold my son for the first time. It's interesting to me how when I was thinking about what I am most excited for regarding the birth of this little guy, I didn't think of myself necessarily holding him. I think that is because the most joy in this world, in my opinion, is watching someone else that is close to you experience happiness and contentment.
Thinking about this, I can't imagine the joy that God experiences when we honor Him with our life. Not because He necessarily wants us to sit like machines and worship Him all day while He takes it all in, but because He knows that when we live how He asks, that in the end, we will have true joy. I like to think that God experiences the most joy when He sees us experience great joy. Sometimes we think that His requirements of us are too rigid, but all He wants for us is to be eternally joyful in Him. That's what any loving person would want for someone else close to them...happiness. God, loving us perfectly, gets pure joy when His children do. That's love.
