It's amazing. It's January 17th, and the weather here in San Diego is over 70 degrees and sunny. I know it's said all the time, but that's why San Diego is such a desirable place to live. It's so natural for us, as humans, to desire to see the sun after we've had a bit of rain. I don't want to speak for everyone, but the sun can bring a refreshing energy after a few cloudy, rainy days.
It's rather representative of our need or Jesus, the light of the world. Having lived in San Diego my whole life, I find myself taking our great weather for granted all too often, because it's almost always a given that the weather will be nearly perfect.
In our spiritual life, we can get into a rut when life goes too smooth, that we don't recognize the blessing of the good days of life. We only recognize the blessings when they are taken away--not always, but often. So, I want to challenge us this week that whenver you think of the warm sun being out in the middle of winter, to also think about how God brings light into our lives, and without it, we would be utterly lost.
God, just like the sun in the middle of winter, brings a freshness to our life that is unmatched. Let's not forget that.
