Each month, SmartMoney Magazine looks at two similar consumer products, from yard tools to cooking products and beyond, and asses the better buy. The magazine lists the reasons why one product is worth the expense while another product that is nearly the same, is not. The foundational reason for this, in my belief, is that when a strong desire accompanied with a simple avenue to quench that desire is met, a product or service can really flourish.
Taking this into the spiritual world, the same is true. God can have people that desire to share Him with the world, but if the desire is not present in the hearts of the lost, then salvation will not occur. Also, God can have thousands of people who desire to be close to Him, but there are no leaders to raise people in the Lord. In this world, God wants to work through leaders that He has risen in place in society. I believe that throughout the past few years, people have been broken down with this economy. We are a country who is starving for leadership. As the baby boomer generation continues to become grandparents and grow older, it is the responsibility of those who are just starting their careers to become the leaders in our society for Christ.
Entering 2011, it is my desire to see young men and women grow in the Lord, and to become influential people in our culture. We need this. The problem is that we don't always necessarily know how to get from being a follower to a leader. I would encourage all of us to seek out mentors in our life that will assist us in raising those of us who desire to be an influence in our world. We need leaders to bridge the gap for those who are starving for hope, with Jesus Christ. When this happens, when leadership is present, our society then has the ability to flourish.
