This week is always an awkward one for me. It's right after Christmas, so you just about ready to get back into the routine of everyday life, but there is yet another holiday lingering that prevents you from fully diving into work, school, etc...It's too early for new year's resolutions to take effect, but your just about ready to get going on them, if you do that sort of thing. In the workplace, it seems like the larger projects are pushed aside until the new year, or at least not completely tackled until then. It's the purgatory of the Gregorian calendar.
I do think that this week, the week between Christmas and the new year, gives us an opportunity to look forward to the new year and examine any changes that we want to make or create new goals that we want to set. Now, I am not one to encourage putting off necessary changes until the new year comes around, but I do know that being given a new year might just give us that extra boost we need to stick to our plan. Throughout this week, I am encouraging all of us to discover what might have held us back in 2010, and remove that hindrance from our lives in 2011. Whether it was too much T.V., a foul mouth, a hot temper, a failure to plan ahead, or whatever it may have been, let's challenge ourselves to remove that from our lives through the help of Christ in 2011.
Sometimes in life, we can be so flawed that is seems as if we are "totaled." We can't recover. The new year, through Jesus, gives us an opportunity to take one step at a time. With the help of our Lord, a little momentum in the right direction can bring us closer to God, way beyond 2011.
