The Life of John Wooden

1910-2010. The life of legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden, who passed away this previous friday. Throughout this week, I have listened to so many witnesses over the radio commentating on the life of John Wooden, ALL of who have given endless evidence of the great character of this man. The more I hear about the life of this great man, the more I think about my life and how amazing it would be to live in such a way that there would not be one person who would have a negative thing to say about how I lived as I try to follow Christ's example.

As I listen to the life of such a good man, there is one quote from Mr. Wooden that continues to stick out to me. "It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. " After just celebrating my one year anniversary with my amazing wife, I find this quote to be so important. You see, it's so easy to be selfless, kind, calm, etc...when you are only accountable to God and yourself. I thought I had life figured out. As it turns out, I only had a portion of life figured out--the life where I only have to rely on myself, my schedule, my wants. But, I've learned that what really matters is how I live when others depend on me. Thanks, Mr. Wooden, for giving us all such a great example to follow.
