My wife and I were talking this weekend about how hard it would be to deliver a refreshing, new, and exciting Christmas sermon, after having done so for so many years. I was surprised at the ability of our pastor to come up with yet another new approach.
In thinking about this, it made me think about the amazing consistency of Jesus. As human beings with so many selfish motives, it's so hard to stay fired up for the things of the Lord for just one full day, let alone a lifetime. It amazes me to sit here and know that right now, God is the same as He was thousands of generations ago--blows my mind.
Regardless of whether or not our economy is in the dump, our country is becoming less and less moral, and many of our society's icons are living questionable lives, God is still the same. The God that gave Abraham and Sarah a child at such an old age, the God that handed Goliath over to David, and the God that raised Lazarus from the dead, is the God of you.
I'm desperately looking forward to the day where I will see Him face to face. I'm thrilled to have my blinders removed from the things I can't comprehend about God. He is so amazing even in my limited persepctive. And He is so much more amazing than anything I (a sinner) can dream up. And He always will be.
