This Life

When I was younger, in my childhood years and beyond, I saw life as so limitless. The opportunities for what I wanted to do for a career were enormous. There were so many different choices to be made. The world was sitting there, waiting to be taken by me and my family and friends around my same age.

As I've grown older, and made choices as to what I would study in college, where I would work, where I would live, etc...the variety of options to pursue in life have gotten smaller, but with that has come something great--the opportunity to do what I do, better.

I think that's true for all people as we grow older. Our choices in life regarding who we will choose as a spouse, where we will live, what we will do for a career, where we will go to church, etc...are the very things that give us the opportunity to be a true professional at what we do, to be a great husband or wife, a mom or a dad, and so many other great things.

In our walks with Christ, as we grow older, it is important to be in prayer with Him, and to keep our eyes open as to what our ministry might be or look like here on this Earth. At some point, we need to choose something that we can do to further God's kingdom. At some point, we need to try to be in tune with the Holy Spirit's calling and have a focus to our ministry. This isn't to say this can never change, but it does give us the opportunity to do a few things great, rather than a lot of things good. God has created us for specific reasons and designed our talents to be used in great ways. Let's keep our eyes open as to what He may have in store for us and our individual ministries.
