The Powerful One

In modern day Christianity, I've come to realize that many of us christians have come to know the spiritual realm as a far off place that only the Lord Jesus Christ inhibits and exhists. In America, many of us have developed this false idea that the Holy Spirit is the only spiritual being that is at work in this world. We have this perception that it's just us and Him in this world, and no other spiritual forces around us on a daily basis.
The older I get, the more I see this as a naively dangerous way to perceive the spiritual realm. This distorted view can be so unsafe for us because we can become blind to the temptations and schemes of Satan and those at work for him. Now I'm not trying to write some revelation-type conspiracy here, but I want to point out that it's critical that we see the world in such a way that we recognize the battle between good and evil that's at war for our hearts and souls at every given moment. If we don't ever recogize this, we run the risk of being blindsided by the slow death of our hearts.
In the end, God will win, and we want to be sure to have Him by our side to fight the good fight with us and to hang on to Him for victory.
