Well, I just got back from a two week vacation that consisted of my wedding on the 31st of May, a honeymoon in the Caribbean on the island of Antigua, and a couple of extra vacation days at home to get settled in to the married life—easily the best two weeks of my life. Over the past two weeks, I often found myself sitting back, looking at my beautiful bride, and realizing the amazing blessings that God has given to me. Taking these two weeks away from work allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the blessings of family through God’s faithfulness. Our God is good, to say the least.
Okay, I’m not going to sit here and spill out my personal blessings to you. Rather, I want to provide an encouraging word to anyone who might not have had the best two weeks of their lives. At this point in my life, I feel like I’m a fruit-picker after the harvest, so full of God’s nourishment. But, you know, it hasn’t always been this way. Life is such a journey. And, regardless of how good life is at any given moment, we are still in a world that is surrounded by brokenness. We always need the grace of God at any stage of life.
Everyone takes a different path to get to a place of contentment in life. Everybody has their ups and downs. But, I can tell you that the trials in life only make the triumphs better. And it sounds so cliché, but it’s so true.
Wherever you may be at in your life, learn to appreciate the trials in your life—it will make your victory over them so much more enjoyable. And if life can’t be better right now, give praise to God. It is ever so important to rely on God through good and bad, not just when we feel like we need His help outwardly. In that, I’m speaking to myself.
