More From Our Days

The time change...longer days ahead of us now! For me, this means no more evening runs in the dark (at least not for 8 more months), the opportunity to surf after I get home from work, and much warmer weather on queue right around the corner. For me, the change of time as we head into spring and summer brings a new aura of hope, fun, and opportunity. For one reason or another, it seems like our days have much more potential--at least for outdoor activities during the course of the week. To me, longer days are such a blessing. But it's up to me to take advantage of that extra hour of sunlight, to get outside and soak it up and breathe it into my day.
Our spiritual lives are so similar--so much opportunity waiting for us. We all have different callings that are placed on our hearts throughout life by the Holy Spirit, but it's our job to not only listen and recognize (which can be hard enough in and of itself sometimes), but then to follow it up with a willing heart and mind. This is putting our faith into action.

When we have the unmatchable gift of the Holy Spirit in life, we have an amazing opportunity to get so much more out of life. We have the opportunity to be guided with such wisdom, to live more passionately, to love more deeply, etc ... But we have to choose to live in such a way.

I feel stronger and stronger that so often, lifetimes boils down to two things: Opportunities and Choices. Each and every day, we are faced with so many opportunites (for good and bad) and it's up to us to choose what path we want to take and what we ultimately want out in life. And only through consistent prayer can we feel confident that our life's choices are in tune with our purpose in this world.

So, as you see the sun begin to set later and later in the days to come, let it be a reminder to you that every day is a blessing. Every breath, every minute, and every hour is an opportunity to choose to be led by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Follow it.
